About the Team:
The Health Determinants Collaboration (HDRC) is a pioneering research initiative funded by the NIHR’s Public Health Programme, focused on tackling health inequalities in local communities. Our Lambeth HDRC, known as Lambeth HEART, works closely with partners including King’s College London and Black Thrive, alongside NHS collaborators. Our goal is to increase research activity within local government and use data-driven insights to improve health outcomes, especially for disadvantaged groups.
Role Details:
We are seeking a Research Analyst to lead the development of HDRC’s data and research infrastructure. This role will involve working with a wide range of health and wellbeing data, particularly focusing on social factors such as housing, income, and environment that affect public health. You will collaborate with colleagues across Lambeth Council, King’s College London, NHS partners, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining a research data management system that integrates diverse data on health determinants and outcomes.
- Building and applying statistical models and predictive algorithms to provide actionable insights for policy and service improvements.
- Promoting and practicing open science principles, such as registering research protocols and sharing analysis code.
- Managing and prioritizing data requests from senior stakeholders and service teams, ensuring timely and high-quality outputs.
- Leading a community of practice to share knowledge and analytical tools across Lambeth Council and partner organizations.
Skills and Experience:
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience working with complex datasets, ideally in public health or social research.
- Strong skills in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS, or similar) and data management systems.
- Knowledge of research methods related to health inequalities and social determinants of health.
- Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to diverse audiences, including senior leaders and policymakers.
- Experience with collaborative, multi-partner projects is highly desirable.
